A study in mice that suggests intermittent fasting improves libido in aging. https://t.co/kuLOk7C3XX It's funny to add that twist that suggests how the mice studies are biased by weight normalization. (I just saw this on linkedin via @Frankbernier) https://t.co/iNIjIeBtsE

Calorie restriction (CR), long studied for lifespan extension, seems only to work by preventing obesity. Chart shows the degree of lifespan extension is proportional to the degree different breeds of mice gain weight when fed normally. So, CR may only be normalizing lifespan, not really extending it, in domesticated animals that gain weight with age. However, humans are domesticated animals with a tendency to gain weight with age, so staying lean can normalize lifespan, increase healthspan, and prevent chronic diseases of aging. PMID: 24941891

@Frankbernier Highly recommend Frank's content. They're informative and quite detailed, and his focus on Alzheimer's + Microbiome stuff is top notch.https://t.co/L8fkA0kFz0

The gut health shift I did changed my libido quite dramatically. I haven't gained or lost weight in any meaninful way other than gaining muscle mass.I believe Intermittent Fasting / Caloric Restriction is a fad.https://t.co/6zGsQIfver

@caloriesproper2 I think the longevity community's fetish for intermittent fasting is a fad tied to metabolic loading around circadian signals and creating an illusionary regenerative capacity. So I just pressed on the levers underneath a bit and avoid all that nonsense.https://t.co/BT47IPNAj8

Does it work? Sure. Can we measure meaningful results? Yeah! But why would it have such huge improvements? Maybe its the gut?https://t.co/qBv7UP1bTS

@MattiasInSpace @shhwip Gonna be funny if much of the results of intermittent fasting on healthy aging is via indirectly putting pressure on gut infections like H pylori and changing how our body handles bile / stomach acids.https://t.co/lV8OCTZxRs

There is a lot of power in fixing your gut. Intermittent fasting / timing your diet (+ cutting inflammation causing foods) can help a lot.https://t.co/ZUnjtxs0ZO

@sly_clank @Honstomanian @Oo_O_o00o_O_oO @0xa59a2d @Cernovich @zooko Particularly interesting is their results across a large number of animals, insects (and humans), will over-eat carbs and fats (in terms of calories) to ensure adequate protein. But will under eat calories if protein is met. Plays into intermittent fasting for longevity.

@PorkSalty @sonyaellenmann There's some really interesting cross domain studies that are exploring life extension in various animals/insects etc. But even then, we've only just started in on intermittent fasting. I started researching around this space https://t.co/wj85hsb9zO https://t.co/TWHzPnCDYi

@jonvoightscar1 Intermittent fasting is what was being trialed for M.S. IIRC. In the mice, they were able to transfer the improvements via FMT. https://t.co/zsYVdSWdbM

@ck_eternity_ @Gnosiiis @Grimhood There are bunch of diets that seem to do this. tim ferris's weird keto+"cheat day" system. The 'snake diet' / carb cycling. Intermittent fasting. They all look similar in fundamental structure. My own destroy+fast is basically a YOLO method because I was without other options.

@__________ur7 @GavinGiovannoni This is why I did a gut reset + aggressive fast in 2018. Got significant symptom reversal."Researchers in the U.S. and Italy published study results showing that intermittent fasting enriched gut bacteria in mice, and reduced MS-like symptoms." https://t.co/nwOVnA7rdM

Anyway. Have you considered that you can skip the whole IF nonsense and just focus on the gut to get the same impact? 🤪https://t.co/Sxzy2EmLfG

“I cut my carbs out and over the last two years I lost a total of 30kg, & I feel a lot better for it & am enjoying my life better for it. The best tip I have would be cut the carbs, they are the source of all health & obesity problems in this country” - Eddie Hall Strongest Man On Earth

@BasedBeffJezos @pmarca Myostatin is acting as a muscle inhibitor specifically to avoid wasting calories on growing muscles when the body needs them elsewhere. If he optimized lipid health, he'd be in much better shape for muscle growth. https://t.co/Zi9L25D0j0

Intermittent fasting makes older mice horny again, men too? Many older men experience a decline in sexual desire, often accompanied by anxiety, irritability, and communication difficulties. ~26% of men over 70 report a lack of sexual drive. Muscle plays a role. Findings🧵
