i 𝘨𝘦𝘵 it. the reverence for food you don’t get there with the mind. you get it when you make food with the body, and you realise the connection between being hungry, and having things, and cooking so you don’t feel hungry https://t.co/Db4cdRGwNu

day 4: made omelettes again. soooooo easy, the quickest thing. it feels quick now—it felt laborious before i felt hungry, and my body simply 𝘮𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘥 to make it. it didn’t feel like an effort of the mind https://t.co/nDIucCNWOY

growing up as a guy in a modern, industrialised society, with plenty money—food is something i ordered in food felt like a swappable commodity. milk and eggs were just another one of the things you could order versus a complex chickpea dish or steak salad

but when you are cooking from scratch. when all i have is a fridge, and you have to rely on it— i am making things from scratch. i am grateful for the movement my body allows me. the things i know i can make. the simple vegetables i can roast

i grow up with an understanding of what eggs and milk 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯 they keep you alive in a world without which you 𝘥𝘪𝘦 im grateful for them in the same way i am grateful for my home: a secure base i can build outward from

previously, i related to cooking like another activity of the mind, of the leisure class i have to “do it right”, because it makes me cooler, and saves me money it didn’t feel like an action of the body, that i did because /i felt hungry/, and wanted to make something

>This is not a cookbook in the strictest sense - it covers a wide variety of theological topics in between segments on cooking. A reader must read a good deal of the book in order to make the flagship recipe. https://t.co/jUiyLV5RdU
