For the last six months I’ve gone for a 30 - 45 minute walk every morning as close to waking as possible. I’ve missed maybe three days when it was raining heavily. It’s become one of my favourite habits - seems to have a strong link with how good I feel.

“stop and smell the roses” is such a stock phrase I do notice tho like, in moments of real freedom, one of the things I naturally end up doing is taking really slow, luxurious walks and just enjoying all sensation- wind and sun on my skin, and even the physical sense of balance

25. going for a walk might be good for you in part because... it diverts calories that would otherwise be spent getting stressed out and inflamed??? https://t.co/38G4Ri2nkq

Placeholder
QC@QiaochuYuanover 1 year ago

apparently physically active and physically inactive people expend about the same # of calories / day. the hypothesis is that as activity ramps up the body spends less energy on other stuff. and exercise might be good for you b/c that other stuff is *stress and inflammation* https://t.co/q03suMBe7M

@QiaochuYuan and while we’re at it… barefoot shoes for the win! https://t.co/3ZemQzwHXh

Been wearing barefoot shoes for almost a year now and it’s really changed my gait for the better. It took 2 tried though. First try was in 2016 but it was too painful, second try was in 2020 after having spent more time barefoot due to wfh. Well worth a try. Just go easy at 1st https://t.co/1JSGWHQKjB
