Today’s work 🌱 https://t.co/s8tZzI0QTE

Work yesterday https://t.co/dW2xbpok2m

Work yesterday https://t.co/sJ81T1u7IX

Work today: outdoor shower platform Fill rock Sand Slabs Bricks to retain Well drained and well positioned inside a bamboo thicket :) https://t.co/noiecqavXt

Completed outdoor shower (heater to be attached, but cold setup for now) https://t.co/5f7aYqECzG

Work today: Level this area in anticipation of covering it with a layer of this fill rock, which I broke up with this bad boy ⬇️ https://t.co/5IiKP6kfbH https://t.co/BWXWOKK0eO https://t.co/MhOp7a2EvO

Work today, processed these bamboo in anticipation of weaving them into a privacy fence tomorrow (will probably need some more but it’s a start) https://t.co/XwkYqzvzNv

Shower is officially heated! And added a big mirror so you watch yourself shower of course Still needs a lot of work: next is a path to enter, leveling the area, semi-privacy screens (bamboo woven) https://t.co/app1BmxiG2

Work yesterday and all this week: lots of trees and brush removal, fire hardening the property https://t.co/eovL76EwZg

Work today: Learned to handle a chainsaw and fell trees, took down four struggling redwoods (~6 more to bring down tomorrow) https://t.co/79mCiBkK6O

Work the last two days: expanding the pile https://t.co/7C7ym3u8xI

Work the other day: stripping all this bamboo of leaves and branches (which may have been a bad move after looking into curing options 😆) https://t.co/yE6k5cRTHG

Work today: One of my flagstones in my shower floor was wobbly (uneven bottom) and I realize I put too much sand underneath, should have stuck to gravel and stone Removed it to remedy https://t.co/t6RNayQ5WD

Scooped out a bunch of the sand, underneath as well as around the other stones, to replace with a bit more fill rock and then these great smooth stones https://t.co/BJRVE9NKbX

Smooth stones added, then some yummy glass bits for JUICE 🧃 https://t.co/UR4HIKrYbQ

Work today: exposed a portion of the sink -> flower bed system so we can expand its capacity Water flows from the sink drains down this pipe and into a perforated pipe that waters this long flower bed It’s only justttt handling the water it’s getting and the rains are coming! https://t.co/JRCzkCepzE

Thinking to add a catchment here and then take perforated pipes both directions to increase the capacity by ~50% Should help, especially with rains coming that will definitely oversaturate the area if don’t divert some sink water Eventually will pump some uphill too https://t.co/wp8jbX1fRH

Work today: replaces the flashing that seals the edge on a long section of barn roof in the morning, beat the rain by an hour https://t.co/9Gg8yUdFde

Work today: replacing two boards on this gate (one has split and it’s now leaning and dragging on the post and ground) https://t.co/qRz0uJPvdo

Removed the boards, and jigsawed off the top of this harder to remove board Lotsa nails in there! https://t.co/m7SGeJMcN5

How to remove this board with so many nails holding it, without breaking the thinner panels... 🤔 https://t.co/gGBCTYQLHN

Tapping a nice long flathead drillbit underneath and levering up a bit to get enough space to grab it with the hammer claw is working quite nicely :) https://t.co/Oe9w75oCm3

So I replaced these boards, drilled holes for the hinges... and the holes weren’t perfectly lined up 😅 I was being lazy and tried to leave the hinges attached to the post and just put the gate back on. https://t.co/sJyOQPWg0x

Removed hinges, attached to the gate first and then lined and up and drilled new holes for the post side of the hinges It was just screwed in before, I’ve switched to carriage bolts (go all the way through) since it’s old wood and I want that extra bite https://t.co/r8ERYKZQbP

It’s hung!!! I had to redrill one hole, meaning I had to tap the bolts back out to get at the hole... which smashed two of the bolts enough that the nuts won’t screw on them 😂 the saga continues So I need to go get two new bolts buttttt it works :) https://t.co/Zf2sv8o7hX

Gate!! https://t.co/LruhLNbeRw

Work today: excavated, leveled and spread fill rock over the last remaining dirt corner of my platform :) https://t.co/RSqEyFvtby

Work yesterday: dug this trench to expose this length of pipe that is SUPPOSED to be draining the water from this bed as part of a waste digester system (but isn’t doing its job) The outlet from the bed is too high and therefore lots of pooling https://t.co/pZwnCKpO8x

Drilling/cutting out below the outlet hole to lower the pipe by a few inches so we get some better flow :) https://t.co/WnO117mVD4

Gonna use a new toy 😸 https://t.co/IUQqiq6LIc

Removed debris and wrappings to get a better look, it’s becoming clear what’s happened... The thing move because it’s mounted to the box with a plate, but the whole setup has settled in the soil so is lower than the drain now You can see it’s pulling out and down here https://t.co/xEuSx5FWTs

Work today: beginning Operation Woodshed 1. Old wood out 2. Unsorted wood sorted 3. New wood in 4. Old wood back in https://t.co/yEOuiMz8tV

Noticed something: the whole flank of the stack is the same shape log How they achieved verticality of such magnitude My stacks are more hills than towers https://t.co/Er6fcZzTaJ

This giant tangled unsorted mess Should I pull it out? Or sort in place? What are my time, energy, and space tradeoffs? https://t.co/cqlE78IEE4

don't mind me just mining wood proof of work ⬇️ https://t.co/U9tuTWVJNk

This has been resolved! Finally clearing away the debris showed that the drainage pipe here is not attached to the large tank, it drains directly from the soil I was able to raise the drainage pipe (by shoving bricks under it) and thereby letting the water get out :) https://t.co/iVxwfng7bb https://t.co/Ribuz77l05

Now the other drainage and waste management project... https://t.co/rMOcmuzq82

Thinking to add a catchment here and then take perforated pipes both directions to increase the capacity by ~50% Should help, especially with rains coming that will definitely oversaturate the area if don’t divert some sink water Eventually will pump some uphill too https://t.co/wp8jbX1fRH

With a bit of thinking through at the hardware store we devised a plan, and I went ahead and dug a trench for the white perforated pipe that will extend the system the other way https://t.co/kOWRsqeUAT

Here at the joint, I’ve pulled off the 2 inch black pipe from the existing 4 inch pipe, cut it down and will place the catchment basin Then the white perforated pipes will neat right into the basin and run off both ways https://t.co/fIbic4HsH9

What awaited me inside the pipe however.... cw: gross af https://t.co/Bz07IdzKao

Lots of tree haircuts https://t.co/hrXOSy3nSI

Last week: debris burning, biggest fire over built by far (we were dumping onto it with the tractor 🤩) https://t.co/3zqPuFoEX7

Also last week: we broke a thing 😄 https://t.co/5N43R4NhRi

Fixed it tho https://t.co/f4MbjKNDD6

Today: taming wisteria https://t.co/xSwby1eBG6

Wisteria seed pods are badass They hang like this until they’re warm and dry enough, then twist and💥 pop off and spit their seeds up to 60 feet The curly ones have popped :) https://t.co/LDBUUGU5G2

Catching up on some work: two weeks ago, another shower! https://t.co/xsljdeLysg

Finally made a lil workable workshop area for my architectural models, fabrics, crafts etc https://t.co/dckKAxbpGU

So I smashed a fence dropping trees a while back, whoops https://t.co/AOAb3jLV14 https://t.co/w1y8IZSIlm

Work yesterday: finally getting around to fixing it! 1. measured out the 2x6 I needed 2. cut my angles (incl. the nice 45° end piece) 3. stained them nicely to match the rest https://t.co/524TKbrUFo

Final product: looks pretty good 😄 https://t.co/GeRIgqK4RA

Work today: many happy plants with personal water fountains https://t.co/TkbJxxCYja

Work the other day: https://t.co/VuW3EDx7ax

Today: Put together my new cargo rack 📦 https://t.co/u1T5gaAOkz

Work yesterday and today: 🌽 Lil experimental crop to see how the rocky native soil here does https://t.co/FN4EDaQSsF

Used the tractor to plow these rows, made gopher baskets then plopped the corn in baskets with a bit of nice topsoil to get them going Ran drip irrigation to each, all solar powered and on a timer 🌞 https://t.co/MyrQ7B9DZV

Work this morning: ran the final drip lines to a LOT of squash And.... first harvest 🍓 https://t.co/Bi3t7xDLas

Work yesterday and today: dug a big ass hole https://t.co/zYCt7Nayt2

I’ve learned so much about digging holes thanks to the family handyman Absolute stud that guy https://t.co/LJsSSMEnZR

Putting up a sweet pull-up bar like this https://t.co/KcEWuyhgsx

Work today: hole #2 Hole dug before googling “how to dig a hole” Hole dug after googling “how to dig a hole” https://t.co/ioD2et6209

Work the other day (before 106°F days paused my outdoor work): beginning RV renovation! Took out this old crusty playa dusted carpet to replace with new vinyl planks https://t.co/RLkAUKFqMH
