Arnold had an abusive alcoholic father. He was born in an Austrian village with ~2000 people and had little money. He started lifting weights, got so good at it, which took him to the US. Decided he wanted to do movies. Became huge star despite accent. Decided to do politicsā¦

ā¦became the governor of California. And since then heās grown into an elder-statesman like figure with gravitas and real king energy. Heās not a perfect guy, but if you look at where he started and how he turned out he has lived an incredible life which has meant a lot to many

especially consider him in relation to some of the more boy-kings we have around. If my son someday puts up an Arnold poster on his bedroom wall, I would be quite pleased about that, considering all of the other options out there https://t.co/9LPNY02bbt

@visakanv Bill burr said it best https://t.co/oYzuugBILp

@visakanv TIL his father was abusive, will add it to my list. https://t.co/G5twA1r8Ys

@visakanv Arnold is a walking example of how your agency is more limited by what you believe you deserve than your circumstances (in all but the more extreme cases). An average American has more opportunity than Arnold had. However, Arnold had something special. https://t.co/9CKuxsGEdi

@visakanv fun fact, all the bodybuilders used to charge to take pics of them for the magazines. Arnold gave them away for free. As a result, his picture got put everywhere. He got widespread recognition and then of course the rest is history.
