a lot of ideas are killed because people treat kids' curiosity as projects https://t.co/g7yd5rhp8R

some more helpful things to do instead: ask, "what would that look like? what it have X or Y?" get them thinking. it helps make the curiosities real, and firm enough to support a real project

it's fine to have a personal desire to see people do things in the world; but make your first agenda always, collaboratively witnessed discovery of what makes sense to be birthed this is the first agenda, the agenda behind other peacetime agendas

you don't know what makes sense for them to do yet, because the next moment hasn't happened yet you find out together https://t.co/oGyl3e9Hzb

example of this from @nickcammarata notice the much longer responses to his Q than any of the other direct responses to Ms. G's Q https://t.co/lPMGxLMzrb https://t.co/LDcxvftLuM

it didn't become a phd, but it was never going to, and the other responses would have been too fixated on that outcome to respond to what was actually happening someone expressing curiosity https://t.co/N0QODepr7K

Nick didn't have to respond with anything but "that would be cool!", but went an extra step anyway he offered joint attention on the curiosity. he offered his attention not bc he was invested in Ms. G doing a phd, but bc he was invested in her explore what made sense to her

@AskYatharth can you expand on what you mean by ‘project’ because it seems we have radically different definitions

@visakanv a project is thing you've decided to make happen, and are figuring out how to do, versus a curiosity is a thing you're exploring the idea of, but haven't decided you want to do what does project mean to you
