sometimes I experience a flash of insight that feels like a real breakthrough, and then I find out I had the exact same insight years ago but didn’t quite manage to translate it into meaningful action. which is sobering, humbling and sometimes kinda ominous experience

once you have a mid-sized body of work, lets say ~200,000 words, you can start getting some interesting additional value out of rereading old material looking for phrases that have a surprising energy to them. i think this is something that will be difficult for chatgpt to do

@visakanv yeah I went to write a sequel to my Transcending Regrets post, with new insights from the year since I first wrote it, and partway through trying to write the sequel I went and re-read the original and found that all my new insights were already in there

one thing that freaks me out more than almost anything is to read journal entries from years ago & find that the exact same problems+solutions I came up w/ mere months ago are described there fully. what is it that makes me continuously lose the most crucial insights of my life?
