Its not a purely technical skill, it requires drawing from reservoirs of love and understanding. But once youve had that, i think you can lose it and start over without it, like new game+, and its not as bad because you know whats possible

being misunderstood used to feel annihilating, like a destruction or negation of my being now it feels like a lil spicy dramatic tension, like a jazz note, a precursor to resolution (which might be years away, which might be after im dead)

imagine two versions of Sammy J witnessing his image being mocked and caricatured one goes oh fuck i am ruined they’re laughing at me the other goes yesss hahaha yes!!! lmao laugh harder!! rhymes with Jack Sparrow’s “but you *have* heard of me” type of trickster energy https://t.co/iSomIwQ4c3

A caricature of Johnson by James Gillray mocking him for his literary criticism; he is shown doing penance for Apollo and the Muses IMO, if you want to ascend into legend GOAT status you have to accept that this not only comes with the territory, it's part of the actual process https://t.co/fgIwIL88Ga

tangentially, the King is a kind of Straight Guy, but to do his job well vis-a-cis the Jester, he has to have a good model of the jester inside him. it takes skill to do good setups and not kill the jokes too early. Its all about holding tension artfully https://t.co/PuuqrMpMTI

I used to think that I was obliged to respond to nitpickers, like I had to defend myself, prove myself, answer to them. I’ve since come around to: it’s my job to be interesting and it’s their job to nitpick. 99% of the time I can just keep moving forward on to the next thing

@visakanv And the king can’t kill the jester and everyone knows the king can’t kill the jester but crucially everyone must believe that there is some possibility that today is the day the king snaps and kills the jester.

@visakanv In my face all day: https://t.co/ChU0z3p67P

@visakanv i have a similar question but like specifically, what is the enjoyment even like, i can't even model/imagine it? what do you enjoy about it? https://t.co/gshwbXAqKt

@not_a_hot_girl once I can contextualize it properly it becomes a kind of erotic tension https://t.co/jQRAgCjQWI

“you can make every note work with every chord [...] rather than say this note is good or bad, it’s more, this note hasn’t found it’s consequence yet, or this note is in the wrong context [...] if it feels right, then it's probably fine." – @jacobcollier https://t.co/7ePxG3sv8E

@not_a_hot_girl just as how haters are fans too, misunderstanders are collaborators on the path to understanding https://t.co/iSomIwQ4c3
