reciprocity is good. valuable. if i'm driving someone to the airport, the reciprocity to buy me dinner, or to just continue being my friend is important. it acknowledges the act within the relationship but when a friend tries to pay me to drive to the airport, it can feel wrong

the money isn't the problem a token amount of money can itself be acknowledgement of the relationship "i acknowledge what you did for me. here, have some tobacco. have a red envelope. have some money" it can be a way of bringing balance to a relationship

there can holding of what the money is reciprocity money is a particular version of it. a very flexible, disembodied, intermediated one it's only when it totalises our ideas of reciprocity that we lose our way https://t.co/kSDrDMx6Yk

money is just a way to track power, goodwill, and reciprocity living in the wild isn’t free either. stuff comes from people and work money is natural enough. but what’s not natural is when power, goodwill, and reciprocity are disembodied and intermediated to an extreme https://t.co/iwlfhhiqQB

a meditative musing on money from @rachelclif i completely endorse https://t.co/U2I7z9X7Ie https://t.co/YWR7V5g1Xm
