How do you teach someone to make art? https://t.co/vbjpkmqT56

You ask them lots and lots of questions about their imagination. That silly, banal question about favourite colours, where you see them is neither silly, or banal— it is from the soul, from which all other art will come from.

You ask them to sing ugly, because so much of art is ugly, and hits that part of soul. You start there, because that is real singing, and move slow. https://t.co/6EH80Jd2bn

@relic_radiation mm, "real singing" is different from the kind of singing that would be platformed on broadway it includes it and more. but how impoverished to have thought that was the entirety of "real singing" most of my life https://t.co/YwNiW1nFEV

You spend a lot of time with sound, colour, books, body, breath, and seemingly unrelated things. Little do they know they are all woven into the same fabric of soul, a knit coming alive in a way so quiet it doesn't know it is.

You trip them up with an honest grin and a helping hand. https://t.co/1NxnecHG1I

holy shit he gets it https://t.co/329TKInPUO

you have to encourage the person to engage their attention, but not through robotic fixation their attention needs to stay fluid, alive, playful so the encouragement is not to *pay* attention, like an obligation but to *give* attention, like a lover to the beloved

holy fucking shit he really gets it https://t.co/Us456xP6nU
