a mother’s love is neither about replacing romantic relationships, friendships, or birthday cakes; nor can it be replaced by them

a mother’s love is about nurturance and protection: the familiar sense of safety that feels like š˜©š˜°š˜®š˜¦, and a connection to our inner compass that guides us in all those other things

there is something it feels like to be deprived of a mother’s love, a constant hunger that no amount of boys, friends, or cakes totally erase, nor are meant to. mother hunger

a mother’s love does not replace those things. it just provides the connection to self to receive those things. as a full human being

a mother’s love rewrites the architecture of attention we may have learnt, where we put attention on another instead of having it naturally, without overwhelm or need to maintain it, stay on us

a mother’s love supports gentle exploration in the world, as we become fuller partners, friends, career people, and individuals it’s not the smothering sense of escape and codependency. it’s the background presence that informs connection to self

a mother’s love is a fundamental rewrite of the architecture of our attention it’s a reversal of the futility of paying attention to ourselves into the discernment that comes with paying attention to our selves https://t.co/1BAoSNMguG

hypervigilant babies look different. they’re too busy watching the adults in the room, in fear of their reactions to them actually touching a block to actually play, it’s heartbreaking. https://t.co/LWIXcMmEwx

the tragedy of human beings is they can be fully functional without being fundamentally at peace. it is also a source of resiliency— that lineages survive until the generation that might yet recover that peace, and deliver it to the the next
