iroh didn’t try to stop zuko. he saw zuko was trying to prove himself to a father that didn’t care, and accepted this was part of reality, and showed up for him consistently anyway

I have had a handful of mentors like this. One of them, I came to years later and yelled at… “OMG I FINALLY UNDERSTAND NOW, I GET IT, BUT HOW THE F DID YOU PUT UP WITH ME?!” and he said it didn’t feel like “putting up with” …it felt like loving a past version of himself 😭 https://t.co/ZWJB3Hpe6G

@AskYatharth Someone tweeted a while ago a video of his daughter at a playground, and he was watching her closely, but letting her do risky things with a calculated worst case scenario risk, that other parents were glaring him for. Reminds me of that but at a broader scope
