@joshqharris invest into things that will generate socio-cultural flourishing for you and the people you know hire coaches for people, give artists microgrants, get plane tickets for people to spend the summer on your couch, start a co-living house, get some instruments + a private teacher

i don’t think i knew why i wanted money. i had all this earning potential, and not a inkling of the soul that might want to spend it i had more than i could spend. my financial budget was greater than my spirit budget

ok so what was worth it? why was it worth coming into a second life and earning money at all? - flying to friends - flying my friends over any time they were sad or happy or wanted a place to stay that was worth it it seemed actually worth it

maybe we perpetually live lives that feel dissatisfying despite accomplishing much bc we chased goals whose NPV reward rate would never match their soul burn rate maybe we had no ideas of what fueled our souls

yesterday, i was at a vision boarding workshop, and people were cutting out “things they wanted to manifest” from magazines it doesn’t get more consumerist than that

i don’t think everyone’s good at coming up with stuff like that at first. maybe it’s “silly” or “ineffective” things like “buy a repaint of my local skate park.” maybe not the best use of money. but it doesn’t matter. it’s a start. it points to what you care enough about
