the story is thus is: humans band together to survive. surviving by yourself outside this group is nigh impossible. we become relevant to this group of humans, so they participate in keeping us alive, through jobs, homemaking, family https://t.co/P7pzqTVrjP

humans managed to figure out a way to mutually participate in the making of stuff and called it the economy

> is it the sense that humans shouldn’t have to earn the right to live it’s precisely unlearning that should who gives me that right? that right is not trivial to grant. nature doesn’t fucking care. nature kills you https://t.co/VV5z2D121y

someone with *love* and with *competence* (both) has to give you these things otherwise none of this means shit someone has to have both love, but also the competence to give you these things right aren’t free. competence is necessary

why is it important to realise that? because if you don’t deeply integrate competence is necessary to survive . . . if you don’t deeply integrate nothing survives, nothing gets done without competence . . .

you are dependent on others, you think you get rights because you asked daddy, because you cried moral foul there will always be an “other” kind of person who actually runs or provides in the world https://t.co/NKBWJDd65j

I can't believe I'm a human. I have agency. People like me built everything There's no "other kinds of" humans who actually build the thing

what happens when *you* have to provide? when you realise will kill you otherwise? you realise you need competence to retain the (functional) right to change anything in the world you need the competence to effect your kindness https://t.co/OIB4A3AjsL

it’s one thing to care about your child. it’s another to care about them competently it’s one thing to send your friends lots of gifts. but there is also a kindness in being a *competent* gifter being competent at taking care of people

away from love, towards a concrete notion of care https://t.co/LWSJ4YJGvs

a lot of confusion is resolved if you stop thinking about love and start thinking about care love is about how you feel, care is about the concrete ways you make them feel

the world doesn’t magically rearrange around you if you are the good guy, and want it the mostest, and so on (though if enough people agree you are the good guy, and you want it a lot for a long actionable time, it might) https://t.co/uRIK0bHbwR

I wonder if this is some sort of narrative poisoning, where people watch movies and hear stories where the hero wins because he has the biggest heart, and and he wants it the mostest, and so the universe will rearrange itself for him because, gosh darnit, he's a really good guy

where does the good / stuff come from? competence someone at some point has to deal with the fact that if you don’t get the thing done—it’s just not done they can’t cry foul to daddy; it’s just not

this is exactly what i was trying to convey! if you think none of it has to be earned, everything is a resentful entitled withholding of resources from the “man” https://t.co/4qSbl26rBa
