Identify the precise moment when you think I became a negligent father https://t.co/fr5XiYEMQB

Lots of thoughtful comments and questions. I was on the fence, honestly. Her distress was a shade above mild, and *probably* she would have been totally fine even if she fell upside down. I intervene ~50% of the time in this sort of case but didn’t here. It worked out: https://t.co/CuxQqPTVLA

@chaosprime I did not lol. She got down eventually on her own about a minute later but I stopped filming under the withering stares of nearby parents. Here's her trying again immediately after, no comfort needed. Sound up at the end for her declaration of independence. https://t.co/VKUREcTbaH

I don’t have super clear principles, but here’s one tactical thing I do that might be unique: For edge cases I take a stochastic approach. Like here I was on the fence, so I mentally flipped a coin. https://t.co/tLYHPi9XcQ

This lets her have both experiences where I offer preemptive support and experiences where it’s riskier and more post hoc, and we can both learn from both and adjust. I worry about falling too quickly into a pattern when I’m not sure, so I try to randomize a bit.
