it’s one of those underthinker/overthinker things i genuinely think those ideas about public face and animas are onto something (and there is such a thing as overdoing it) https://t.co/xqDLl35CxS

We feel close to people who choose to not interact with our public face.

for some underthinkers, some of the time, those ideas will feel profound, and useful. they will be helpful levers against reality for some overthinkers, some of the time, they will be needlessly complicating, and lead to a continued disconnect with the feeling space that is

the ideas may be great, but if the feelings aren’t touched, what point? the glorious theoretical map to an expedition it seems from the way you are sitting you’re not planning on going https://t.co/eLfs6ueR4u

the higher cognitive space can schematise all it wants, and it’ll may only ever change thoughts to help feelings shift, one tunes into what one is actually feeling. by taking the mental move of “feel the feeling,” something non-trivial happens: https://t.co/2t4CkoghfH

it reminds me a little of this “ploughing ahead” can be useful to turn up more mud. yet it is only ever stillness that integrates maps of theory and the mind can help uncover more hypotheses. yet it is only ever feeling into feels that rubs against them https://t.co/Yiuh5cJHbE https://t.co/DpeDsgPQFQ

you think shadow work is about “effort” and “ploughing ahead”, and to an extent it’s true—it uncovers more stuff but the integration of the stuff always ever only happens in moments of stillness they’re necessary https://t.co/qsBnu2vXwj

for me, it’s not that my hypotheses are wrong, it’s that there’s something powerful for me to feel the humility of feeling simple feelings not “my needs are blah, so my shadow is doing blah, so blah” but “im feeling lonely and sucky”

i wish there was a way to capture in a tweet what it’s like to explore the multidimensionality of feeling space, because someone said that to me once, and on that single day, i understood what that mental move meant

for me, the response is noticing my brain is construing these ego-narratives and asking myself the daring question “what if i’m simply feeling sad, or helpless, or upset instead?”

the “simplicity” of this feeling is misleading. the labels we use for them: sad, helpless, upset, those appear simple. the sanitised emojis we might use to represent them in popular culture, those might be simple https://t.co/wz0pStsGSq

they’re not even trying to be embarrassed. this isn’t what embarrassment looks like they’re trying to give back like this . . logo of embarrassment. a advertising-ready fetished emotionally-sanitised version, that is a simulcra of the original but the original has been forgotten

but underneath the seeming simplicity of the labels are some incredibly complex, and nuanced, and ever evolving like a flowing stream of the workings of an enlightened and perceptual and emotional mind https://t.co/VWpSBIM2Cl

it’s not even that the narratives and emotions are contradictory—they may just both be aspects of the truth, on different levels, and one may be more useful to spend time with

ive been reframing ““shadows”” and ““desires”” as just simple needs. it’s been a powerful and deeply humanising move

e.g., skating around at night, wanting to meet people → could start analysing as all sorts of things, or just say “im feeling lonely/sociable and would like to meet people”

e.g., skating around during the day, same thing, interpreting lightly as a desire for “i want interaction now!” in the same way i might “i want food!” vs a darker or more complex thing

there’s an ability to phrase the same thing as 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘭𝘺,, something wrong with this or just lonely,, want to meet people or even sociable, want to meet people like tiers of believing humans are dark & complex humans are just simple humans are good & normal https://t.co/3GQZ2moTXG

they’s all 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘦,, but it’s a matter of not overfixating on any one tier enough that it becomes something you want to believe if you want to believe all your emotions are just cool & normal like a normie might, then you will be surprised by how people are monsters

if you are the kind of person who ends up growing up to be a famous psychoanalyst (introspective, thinks a lot, said controversial things) (*cough* not this account), your priors will be twisted too https://t.co/mFIHspjYPl
