public face = what we put forth for people to interact with not interact = acknowledge, but do not interact with We put our public faces out there. It helps us. We wait until someone decides to not buy it.

When someone takes the time to not interact with public face, we feel surprised… relieved… grateful. We notice the effort it took to put it out there and the dissonance it caused. Someone didn’t buy into our bullshit, and it was kind.

Not buying into someone’s public face = not buying that it’s actually them. It’s still important to acknowledge it is their public face, and you do see it. It’s in contrast to it that we build intimacy.

@AskYatharth hmm this is some very good observations. yeah there is this certain sense that my public face exist for the sole reason of finding people that is willing to out me out on it, implying that they're somewhat interested in finding the "real" me
