Going to meet a date today. Already nervous, I want to please. But when I recognise it’s because I want to be her in many ways, I admire her, I realise the psyche I want to please is mine. I get to see her again. https://t.co/8V3GTJseyZ

This is because previously, we could only see the symbol of them—the part of our psyche they reflected. We needed them to be that reflection, so we couldn’t let them be anything else. We couldn’t let them have a complexity of a person. https://t.co/EqufIQqNOj

i see them again. like seeing someone for the first time... terrifyingly, beautiful :’) https://t.co/9WKMxcT3XB

I get to decide if I like her or not again. That’s all people want, really. They want you to decide authentically if you like them or not. Because the problem with a relationship that is built on people-pleasing is it eventually fizzles out.
