This is because previously, we could only see the symbol of them—the part of our psyche they reflected. We needed them to be that reflection, so we couldn’t let them be anything else. We couldn’t let them have a complexity of a person. https://t.co/EqufIQqNOj

I get to decide if I like her or not again. That’s all people want, really. They want you to decide authentically if you like them or not. Because the problem with a relationship that is built on people-pleasing is it eventually fizzles out.
