We want to please people when we project part of our psyche onto them. When we recognise that psyche as our own, they become people again.

This is because previously, we could only see the symbol of them—the part of our psyche they reflected. We needed them to be that reflection, so we couldn’t let them be anything else. We couldn’t let them have a complexity of a person. https://t.co/EqufIQqNOj

there is both the person of them and the image of them the image of them is your own, actually, and therefore deserves to be treated as such it, too, is beautiful a reflection of yourself, caught by their psyche https://t.co/t4IoTxrerT

A lot of people just keep people around, because they are that symbol for them. But there’s more you can do. https://t.co/dan1JmwWKG

The reason it’s right to be suspicious of people like you too fast is they might just like the symbol of you. https://t.co/5D13RU8Nvf

When you let yourself not know people, you can see them again :’) it’s like seeing someone for the first time . . . terrifyingly, beautiful https://t.co/9WKMxcT3XB

it’s like watching a tree for the first time, or a river, or a sparrow. you see it, the goddamn person, like you've never seen a human before, instead of just the concept of them https://t.co/T7Dthwb41C
