@goblinodds noticed this amongst a bunch of spectrum-y ppl hanging out in berkeley https://t.co/i9G7gQgQP5

Some nerds in California (and to be clear, I love them) legitimately speak English like they’re in a poorly dubbed anime ...and I am wondering now if the causality might run the other way around. Is “badly” dubbed anime actually well-made to sound like nerds...? 😮🤯

@goblinodds I think a lot about this little snippet of Elon in 1999 saying "there it is gentlemen, the fastest car in the world", kind of to himself and to nobody, kind of putting on a bit of an announcer voice. the involuntary-ish outburst-y nature of it is what sticks with me https://t.co/Fks931kPS0

@goblinodds I'm working on hearing when someone has symptoms of facial paralysis. Its amazing how many people talk with an accent tied to one side of their face moving more than the other. E.g. I can predict bells palsy better than chance by hearing a shift into this over time.

@goblinodds I'm thinking we might be able to quantified self tools that can predict disorders for certain people. It's something i've been focusing on because it might help me detect M.S. Relapses https://t.co/6hFZRsELp7

@goblinodds Just a hunch. But it seems to work when comparing podcast audio with YouTube versions of the same content. It seems we haven't proved this yet.https://t.co/KNxuzxSix0

@goblinodds I think its not actually bells palsy but the nerve problem discussed here and the noted misdiagnosis this mentions. I know I'm hearing something, but not sure what yet. https://t.co/Nsra1BhsJv

@goblinodds Aside from tendons, there are also possible motor control problems tied to muscle weakness and mitochondrial function. But other things that may be called an accent are monotonic/"sing-song" speech rhythms. Also possible tied to poor lanaguage processing: https://t.co/HqcvWEa6qc

@goblinodds along these lines i'm v curious to know the mannerisms you're referring to in this tiktok! https://t.co/0FWinB2aRr

@strangestloop i'll take note when i see them but off the top of my head-- this girl's hand gestures are very feminine and elegant but also sort of noticeably stiff/jerky? and i've had two friends who make the same gestures in the same way https://t.co/sIrNTH3Eq6
