In my alternate universe, any child that reads books under the desk at school is given a full scholarship to do whatever they want. If they want, they get to skip regular school and hang out in the library with all the other self-directed nerds. Some elder nerds loosely supervise
âHow will you pay for this?â Self-directed nerds create billions of dollars of value. Iâll just ask for like 0.1% of their stock or something. Whatever they feel like contributing. Theyâll want to hire other self-directed nerds too, so itâs a whole self-sustaining pipeline
Imagine not only being a nerdy self-directed child who is *allowed* to pursue your curiosity, but also doing it in a lovely library where a few elder nerds smile at you supportively, ask you genuine questions, and even show you the cool stuff *they* are working on?? Paradise đ

@visakanv One of my good school stories was doing my other classwork on top of the desk while reading along in Latin class. Teacher sees me not paying attention, calls on me, I am paying attention to her as well, answer without skipping a beat or looking up. She lets sleeping lions lie.
