When I asked a friend about her dating life, she said "every car I've been in has a different vibe, each is a brief little universe that I share with a man I maybe could've loved" and I think about that a lot she should write novels she is a dentist, you'll never hear of her

my own wife is a better writer than me tbh I don't say this about everyone; I think maybe 0.5% of people are this good... and most of those people don't write most writing is written by people who show up and do the work, many of whom aren't even top 5% https://t.co/dp8YHnvk1C

there's this quote by Ray Bradbury that says something like, (i paraphrase) "even the most common man will spit poetry if you ask him the right question in the right way" โ and that is an entire art unto itself. I think Brandon from Humans of New York validates this hypothesis

This reminds me of a quote that Russell Brand has from someone waiting for a bus woman 1: oh look, the bus is coming woman 2: the bus was always coming. https://t.co/t2lsb1eiG4

of course you have to hear it in context โ with the relief and the disbelief and all https://t.co/BhyuB7W07h

I think about this guy every few months "Why not someone worrying about us? But I thinking that people don't asking these questions, because people don't wanting to know the answer. People only wanting pretty picture, so they seeing pretty picture." https://t.co/wTooFEzj34

"I not much older than you when I come to Singapore - maybe 20, 21. But no money, so different path. It is like lottery. You are born one place you get to be you, I born one place I get to be me." https://t.co/gfAvSglHlq

@visakanv I find writing really hard. It is non-interactive communication where you have to preempt all questions and confusion, meanwhile having good enough storytelling to hold your reader in. On top of all that, conflict between reader's attention vs the time to write a shorter piece.

@visakanv I guess I have anxiety about expressing myself incorrectly/inaccurately, in large part related to how I like to argue/disprove/offend. Like, if I'm going to say controversial stuff, I need to be able to stand by what I say; otherwise I'd be a clown and also my words lose power.

@visakanv There's some nuance going on about publicity/privacy, along the line of thought of last time you mentioned it. https://t.co/ZAq2HO1jCN Public and private writing feels very different, and it's tricky to keep one's head thinking *within* one of these modes.
