Found studies exploring Buytrate's effect on Crohn's Disease that suggested it might be effective.Seems we may even know the method of action. https://t.co/rRuxtiRCmdMakes me wonder I wonder what is helping me. I don't get nearly enough SCFAs for it to be the cause?

"Gut microbiota produce butyrate by fermenting carbohydrates in a high fiber diet."But I'm doing a low carb diet. Whats up with that?https://t.co/xF1afbdWNw

Neat that carb fermentation may enhance sleep. That may be related to the memory protective effects we see when usying butyrate in alzhiemer's? There's some promise behind that as part of the inflammatory theory of Alzheimer's.https://t.co/SS1j2uuDP9

Maybe what i'm doing with my roughly keto diet is working on inflammation in the same as butyrate is working on people who ferment carbs?https://t.co/7cSBSI2RTp

I should explore the genes predisposing for better resistant starch digestion. I suspect I don't have them. Would explain why I struggled under a carb based diet, and also perhaps suggest a microbial avenue to go to help me deal with normal diets again.

Ah also from my high fat yogurt. It seems that the progression of changes in my diet the past 6 months have been adding more and more external sources of butyrate accidentally. That might be what's going on despite not eating lots of fermentable carbs.

"That is, amino acids from incompletely digested animal parts reach their colons and are fermented. In particular, in cheetahs, casein, collagen, and glucosamine have been shown to result in butyrate production comparable to fructo-oligosaccharides "https://t.co/1kmr9kBhVT

Taters going to tate. https://t.co/nITfhdCNhP

I wonder if "collagen, and glucosamine" fermenting into butyrate is partially why we see glucosamine and chondroitin helping improve joint health. If it's an inflammation related disorder associated with microbes...https://t.co/wFlqFWmvhN

I'm... going to guess that honey and honey bee gut bacteria promotes butyrate production and that butyrate producing microbes improve rheumatoid arthritis symptoms. 🐝Not going to bother looking that up right now, but leaving this here for future me.

Nice. https://t.co/dFTy4ZzfUe So has butyrate been proven to help diabetes in humans?

Is anyone testing this in humans?https://t.co/l5MndnyPQJ

This suggest the oddness of honey may be due to fructose, but apparently that is just a guess.https://t.co/VUFJHYJEzS

Could it be due to feeding butyrate producing bacteria?https://t.co/g0BxZ7OmPy

Huh, they're only recently doing studies in mice in this space?https://t.co/a4kLWU8WB4

The niacin/butyrate receptor plays a role in cancer, huh.https://t.co/Qd6NiCHdpQ

I wonder if the nicotine associated weight loss is thru the same channels that butyrate operates, that would put it in the same sort of position as CBD oil as I've layed out.https://t.co/USi0z5lp6T

it seems to have a similar style bimodal effect for how it affects insulin - increase insulin resistance in non resistant mice, but reduces it in insulin resistant mice. https://t.co/1BUvV3SXT0

I wonder if nicotine would help with my sleep/wake issues?https://t.co/KAcvcgfosH

Wake up babe, new paper on longevity just dropped> "over 200 octogenarians [...] revealing a decline in gut bacterial diversity with age, particularly the loss of Faecalibacterium prausnitzii, which produces butyrate—a key compound for gut health" https://t.co/4TIRREhMo7 https://t.co/7GZ8MyPbpm
