There's an interesting bit where a pastor and a police officer calmly help mediate a dispute between two gang leaders after a couple of innocent children died in a drive-by shooting. Generally I think it's clear that people are doing the best they can within the circumstances

The psychology of all the various characters is fascinating. I find myself thinking "everyone is the hero in their own story" and "everyone needs to feel good about themselves somehow" - aren't these obvious? Yet somehow it feels a little surprising to realize it's true

How do people get by when they collectively can't make enough? Lean on each other more than we imagine possible https://t.co/0qAVbO597l

Different people in the organization have different worldviews based on their age and experiences. Another "well, duh" statement that's nevertheless nuanced, rich and surprising. We all have some things in common, crime or no crime. What does your organization mean to you? https://t.co/RPrpuaqSJf

There are definitely many bright, thoughtful kids born into hideous circumstances and forced to make decisions the privileged among us can never imagine. T-Bone seems (seemed?) like a great kid caught up in circumstances beyond his control. It's really sad https://t.co/08l9dNsINe
