Thinking today about what it would look like to plan and take actions that would maximize life satisfaction in the long run, within the context of a likely lifespan. If I could hang out with a group of 90-year-old Visas, what would we talk about?

I guess the first thing we'd talk about is children. Who had kids, who didn't? Who stayed happily married, whose marriages failed? Second would be - did anyone migrate? Where does everyone live, call home? How much did everyone travel? Did anybody learn new languages, cultures?

Next I imagine we'd talk careers. Did anybody pivot radically to work on different things? I doubt everyone's still marketing software. Do we have any published novelists? Any independent business owners? Any designers, software engineers? Fitness instructors? Anything weird?

I'd ask about the best and worst experiences of their lives, best and worst decisions. Interestingly, I feel like I can already predict what they'll be. Bad decisions are reactive, ignorant, made in fear. Good decisions are bold, intuitive, constructive, made with love.

In fact, I can visualize this with painful clarity - all of them will agree that their biggest mistakes involved snoozing decisions for too long, because they were nervous, uncertain, afraid, and hoped to be better positioned to make better calls sometime in the indefinite future

I imagine all of them would encourage me to pick up skills that take a long time to develop. Learn to code, learn to draw, learn to dance, learn a new language. Yes, all of these things are hard but they enrich your life so dramatically if you stick with it
