SO... I found an amazon turker task for a twitter bot farm that has you tweet influencer spam & add to social upheaval over bodegas. $0.25 https://t.co/HmoF8ZkpOb

Please report task if you see it.Note: I suspect it's linked to tasks where you generate alternative phrasings. Don't do those anymore. https://t.co/06derQhAyh

I"m not sure if that person is being target by a bot attack, or being propped up by a 3rd party. Please do not attack, they might be victim. https://t.co/mt1AuNgvOf

This has similar M.O. + appears to be evolution of troll farms, but open source insurgency style? Or a copy cat. https://t.co/HgKV7O18PR

They're probably a generic spam firm duped into RT the bodega thing to get it trending. These things are everywhere:https://t.co/TqOxd9FH0c

I hate to tell you this, but a portion of your twitter feed is probably farmed out novelty accounts scraping reddit for cute pics. Big $$$

The more I look at the tweets: possible the bot farm is indiscriminately RTing anything about cats & it's possible the thing is coincidence.

Still suspicious about farm itself. Been trying to think of other possibilities. Strongest guess right now: front for stolen products.

I'm going to set up Alerts to try & catch more of these things; Hoping to see if there's larger trend or if it's someone's misbehaving toy.

Fake news, bot manipulation, the ever groping reach of ads clawing it's way into our world view... incentives.https://t.co/DUttfh8bNs

There are a lot suggestions to "google" things. Maybe an amplification attack to target + drain competitor's ad-spend for google keywords? https://t.co/nCLkxXTZPI

Because i'm still mad at them for doing it, here's an example of a public brand doing something similar: https://t.co/LiSNLjJRtr
