People feel pain when they are shamed and lose status. Autism + empathy = suffering the pain you cause in other people without knowing why.

There's a reason why many on the spectrum feel alone. They are socially isolated b/c they can't fit into power hierarchies they can't see.

This is a blessing and a curse. We're immune to group think, but we lack the effects normative social influence; we become outside the pack.

The statistics on suicide attempts and ideation for people on the spectrum seem to dwarf everything except depression. Many have both.

But there isn't an "it gets better" campaign for the spectrum. At least not one that I know of. Best I've heard is "You learn to survive".

This election can be summed up as people shiting on each other's feelings. Pissing on others expressing themselves. Shaming the outgroup.
