@tszzl checking in on the North Korean troops with internet access fighting for Russia. Are they OK? Or just so chapped they can't go on?

@tszzl Cosmic Horror was always a metaphor to talk about how bedrock scientific reality is inimical to our folk understanding of the universe. What it got wrong is thinking it would drive men mad, when the reality is that people simply ignore it in favor of the folk.

@tszzl We know there are visual patterns & sensation that do break some peoples brains (Epilepsy). I would not be so sure that ASI could find something similar that works on everyone.

@tszzl The funny thing about them is how ready for social media they are. You see those YouTube videos of them trying fast food for the first time, and they're hamming it up.

@tszzl "most" =/= "all" many will break we have all seen folks who got broken by something and crash out. generally agreed that humans are very adaptable tho and most things wont even slow us down.

@tszzl I don't think so. Internet access induces a kind of narcosis. We blind ourselves to the horrors simply so that we can accept the rapidity of the medium at all. Lovecraftian horror comes with distance not closeness.

@tszzl a comparison i oft use for this is western food supply, where one-shotting seems to rarely happen yet if you zoom out over decades certainly *something* is happening (i suppose if one chants eli lily three times while staring in the mirror the argument may vanish into smoke, yet)

The deeper reality, the ever-present elephant in every room, may not be tentacular in form but is certainly cosmic in scope and existential dread. Just see how far you can get a meeting with management/executives into identifying the actual source of their issues before they twitch out to the latest 'band aid' of synergy and Agile development methods. Further, take another look at 'why' people argue that nothing 'new' is ever created and we only get iterative innovation at best. It can almost get to something similar to Thalassophobia. I could say more, but Weird Tales doesn't pay me by the word.

@tszzl If something in someone is broken, it's broken before going to the Internet, or outside of it. The infosphere is just the decoration and background of someone's folly. Oh but politicians love their moral panics.
