Addiction, anxiety and depression are NOT problems. They're symptoms. The real culprits behind 95% of your suffering: 1. The Voice in Your Head 2. Disconnection 3. Repressed Emotions How to solve them (without force): https://t.co/FGLEvN0D75

Most people are focused on symptoms. We think our issues come from: - Using our phones too much - The state of the economy - Not waking up early enough - Not being productive enough These may contribute, but they're not what's actually driving your suffering...

1. The Voice in Your Head There's a Voice in your Head that's constantly shaming and criticizing you 24/7 "You're behind" "You didn't do enough today" "You're not good enough yet" This has a MASSIVE tax on your energy + your physical/mental health. https://t.co/YYFTXLpVeT

Why? Because your nervous system can't tell between an external vs internal attack. It just knows you're being attacked. And when you're constantly being attacked, your body is stuck in constant hyper-activation. It's one of the worst things possible for you:

→ You don't feel "rested" even when you're always resting (Chronic fatigue) →You get trapped in an anxious cycle (Chronic anxiety, which leads to depression) → You start seeking relief from the constant tension (Addiction) → Then your Voice starts criticizing you more https://t.co/pXUCBJi64O

It's a vicious cycle. And here's the way out: STOP using self-improvement as self-abuse. Self-improvement can just become more negative self-talk: You telling yourself to do more things and improve (meditate more, be more productive, etc.) ...in order to be good enough.

But a tiny acorn grows into a magnificent oak tree. And it never thinks: "I have to improve myself" https://t.co/gwrqCxTvzq

I've met dozens of hyper-successful people who improved themselves to the point of building billion-dollar companies... But then realized they created a world that's not for them. They achieved everything they thought they wanted. Yet they were miserable.

Try this experiment instead (it can be life-changing) For 20 minutes every day for a week, listen to the critical Voice. Every time one of the following happens, say "I see how scared you are, and I'm right here with you." → It tells you that you messed up. → It tries to make you feel small. → It tells you you can’t do something that other people can do. → It nags you to do something.

2. Disconnection We are biologically wired for connection. - Loneliness has 2x the effect on early mortality than that of obesity. - Social rejection (exclusion, breakups, cyber‑ostracism) activates the same brain circuits as physical pain https://t.co/psEhHrooVh

And the longest study ever done by Harvard (following 700+ people) found that the #1 predictor of long-term health and happiness isn't diet, wealth, or even genetics. It's the quality of your connection and relationships. https://t.co/gmJe7DVmsU

Here, most people think "Okay, time to start putting all my energy into relationships" But what most people miss is that it all starts with your relationship to YOURSELF.

Why? Because that relationship sets the tone everywhere. - If you speak to yourself harshly, you’ll see criticism everywhere. - If you hide your feelings from yourself, you’ll assume others are hiding theirs too

3. Repressed Emotions Try this right now: Attempt to stop feeling any emotion for just one minute. You'll immediately notice how your muscles tighten throughout your body. The more emotions you repress, the more your body must contract. This exhausts you on every level.

And science shows us that emotional repression is the direct root cause of issues like chronic anxiety and depression.

The four keys to releasing your emotions: 1. Don't believe your emotions 2. Use the Actor Method 3. If you can't welcome the emotion, welcome the resistance 4. Fake it 'til you make it. (Read a step-by-step guide here once you're done with this thread)

Caveat: There are definitely physical components that we don't cover here that can have an influence on anxiety, addiction, and depression. For example, physical predispositions like genetics or gut biome issues.

But the final point is this: If you want to have a more joyful and fulfilled life, it's all about how you relate to yourself: 1. How you talk to yourself 2. How you connect with yourself 3. How you connect with your emotions Once you see this, it changes everything.
