@eatnik I remember visiting France and being surprised that they didn't live up to the stereotype of being rude. I was like, oh they're not rude, they're just frank with each other. Then I started thinking about what the word frank meant

@eatnik Honestly one of the things I miss the most about continental Europe now that I live in England. I love the British, but their fear of conflict and unwillingness to be frank and have difficult conversations leads to many misunderstandings and unresolved issues.

@eatnik I was in a meeting once where a French executive started with "It is <farting noise made with mouth>" while giving a thumbs down at the same time. I actually really appreciate this directness—it left very little room for alternative interpretations.

@eatnik Wait’ll you hear about Eastern Europe. @acostin likes to share this one: https://t.co/KghHBJWBG3
