apparently there is a movement for people to just "be open" about how much money they have this is a terrible idea there are reasons we have norms against this and people who embrace "openness" are going to find out why very quickly why these norms exist

strategic discussions at work are legit although still somewhat risky imo https://t.co/N07T6IEFTR

those other cultures didnt conquer the world with the gentlest touch and in so doing usher in a golden age for mankind. i am an anglo cultural supremacist and i will never apologize for this https://t.co/1Iexc2z40j

@eigenrobot "Conquering the world" and "gentlest touch" are mutually exclusive. The era of British colonialism and the various bouts of imperialism that came after were among some of the most heinous crimes in human history.

@eigenrobot Your visible presentation should be as far from the average as is your net worth, in the opposite direction Middle class get to dress like middle class Poors grok it and dress in (counterfeit, shoplifted or financed) Gucci Rich who arenāt idiots dress like weird hermits

@eigenrobot They want to know everyone's salary but I'm a snowflake administrator with access to all the data and still I don't look. We are not the same https://t.co/yzRMW228Kw

@eigenrobot In the right context (ppl you know) itās an extremely pro-social thing to do. The default is hiding it but when everyone does that everyone ends up starved for data on what jobs to do. Internet has become distorted by filters.

@eigenrobot I once told someone at work how much I made so he could use that to negotiate for higher pay. He was having financial troubles and told me enough to figure out he wasn't making as much as me in the same position. He instead got upset at me and was a bitch to work with.

Rich people are at serious risk of falling victim to a crime. Especially if they donāt have personal security. Hide your wealth as well as you can. Flaunting it is dangerous. Oftentimes new money will flaunt wealth and learn the hard way. Protect yourself. The world is not safe.

People are fucking vicious. Some of the biggest learning moments in my life were being super open about my beliefs in XYZ and the person listening to me deciding that those beliefs meant they could rob my shit or hurt me. They genuinely said you are a good guy, and thought that somehow meant I would refuse to defend myself. When I said I'd hurt or kill them if they touched me or my shit, which they now felt entitled to, their brain almost broke. They said "wow, I didn't know you were that kind of guy" over and over again until I threw them out of my house. Now anytime I think of telling anyone anything I just think of that response and how if you just say the wrong set of words people suddenly feel like they deserve to hurt you. I feel like money would set someone off like that even more than radical, centrist politics.
