Neat, another one.https://t.co/k0LAxK8uWa https://t.co/0WHLLP8flZ

I am putting final touches on a very long, weird, and I hope insightful and accurate reported feature about Ziz and the Bay area rationalist/AI scene. If you're someone thinking about talking to me, please contact me soon. I'd love to but my window for interviews is closing.

When I heard zizians were shooting people up north the first thing I did was check in with prominent figures in AI to see if anyone had been targeted. It was scary to think I might be targeted by an AI doomer cult because of my shitpost about AI.https://t.co/AhzvMpgppl

I went from having all these AI + genetic + biology ideas in my head to having people working on them live in such a short time.Realizing that other smart people were thinking the same things, have the means to do it, but may not be doing them on the level, is what scares me.

One of my top posts on here was about AIhttps://t.co/u98jzIG1fJ

> "She wondered if good people should learn to act evil – that perhaps the only way the world could be saved was by a cadre of intelligent people who adopted the methods of sociopaths."This shit is why these people scare the F out of me.https://t.co/fAnw5ERqKs

"Machiavellianism (but not psychopathy) was associated with favorable views about mind upload, both directly and indirectly through utilitarian moral attitudes. These results therefore substantiate the concerns voiced by AI safety researchers" https://t.co/ITgpYmdL0m

I remember meeting an MIT student who was eating 100% Soylent and talking about watching youtube videos at 2x speed.I like(d) soylent at the time, but this kind of type-a anxiety driven mind-fucking isn't a good look.https://t.co/KbaWhE1GUY https://t.co/gpaz7iB37E

I enjoyed the weird egregore / tulpa discussion in 2016 era. Learning about that stuff helped me fixed my broken hippocampus, reknit my memories and de-fracture my self. Self-integration is so much better. https://t.co/mRsrm4oVyX https://t.co/HRoCRnQmXc

Holy shit. This kind of stuff in the car that shooter in vermont had sounds bad. There may very well have been an a attempt at merc'ing people after they met up in Vermont. Sounds like they had some plans and got gun-happy upon being spooked by the cops?Jeez. https://t.co/XK9p0s1k7F

If you wanna dig in deeper to the ideology behind this someone reviews the .info thing that ended up being floated around the chans. https://t.co/mhpQps0NquHerd thru: https://t.co/rBYtLt71xI

FWIW, one meta-strategy to defeat/weaponize newcomb's pardox is to trick people prone to certain rational strategies into thinking they're playing a one-shot newcomb's problem when really they're playing an iterated prisoners dilemma; manipulate their decision matrix and payout.

If you can trick someone into always defecting and not giving into blackmail, you can always win if you don't play games with them. And they always lose because they think they're playing a different game against their potential cooperators.https://t.co/3Zw4mVTrR9

Decision theory is hard, have you tried not getting one-shot by any convincing argument that comes your way?https://t.co/LyKpLor6Zx

@vgr @ExGenesis @sarahdoingthing TL;DR: if you're playing an infinite game and end up playing a public goods game as one of the iterations, but few recognize it, convincing your rivals they're in an iterated prisoners dilemma is a great way to cheat the pot.😈https://t.co/e5xie5iQtq

Remember when a bunch of people invented game theory to try and model decision outcomes, and then instead of modifying their model when people didn't conform to it, they just decided people were wrong?Misattributing motives in a mixed motive game, SMH.https://t.co/nqg0LiUpjN

"game theory was an affirmation of humans as rational actors who weigh utility and risk in a world that is perpetually zero-sum, and who can make optimal decisions—optimal, that is, for themselves—about bombing other countries or buying new cars."https://t.co/jDEwhNH5xY https://t.co/8DoyLdpg30

There's all sorts of weird games that trick people who are 'good at games'. They think they know the right answer, but really they're just 'educated' and really just want to be seen as a high status member via their signaling.https://t.co/t3iiR7ElL6

I think a lot of this is a sort of "Mind Projection Fallacy" https://t.co/zZQqrnjnvQMeets up with the "Typical Mind Fallacy"https://t.co/AHb8cv7uxCA failure in reasoning about the space of possible minds.https://t.co/5Yte9zZxWo

If you read thru many of these zizian people's content, you can see the classic cult belief that their beliefs are 100% morally right, shun those who don't share these beliefs, the world is out to get you, everyone that doesn't agree with you is a bad person and needs 'JUSTICE'.

Who will enact such justice? The AI GOD will. And any behavior that helps support your friends (who are by definition not the bad evil outgroup) is for the good of bringing this fictionalized AI GOD's good word into existence.One-shotted indeed. https://t.co/lksiL5x8zj

Don't worry, the *cough* brainwashing *cough* sleep therapy will help install a good brain.https://t.co/NNTfXQBHF0

Ah, I see the problem, you got some of those toxic beliefs instilled into you by the system. If we just snip those out... you'll be able to brain gooder.https://t.co/DjzeeI4Xyj

Are you depressed, lonely, and looking for answers? Do you want to join this new club? I learned about it while micro-dosing to try to optimize my mood. They have some really neat ideas on that AI stuff you're into.https://t.co/KEAfhFeXhT

Please stop inventing AI cults you nerds, JFC.https://t.co/UlIm6B8kEO

One does not simply gamble with the moon and win.https://t.co/VVzupmtblj

You're part of a system, Neo. How do you reject a choice thrust upon you that biases your world view?https://t.co/bEi0FrUEsr

To win you have to stop trying to win.https://t.co/ux0JZdR1cj

I've never seen something so retarded in my life, and I've looked in the mirror.https://t.co/zB1cT24xsT

Damn, If only I had been contacted by an AI cult, I could have been their leader. But no one would have me as a member.https://t.co/mrsax2zw63

"Rational insight is a powerful tool, and one of our worst excesses. When it becomes the only tool it brings about a mixture of certainty and naivety that makes minds brittle." https://t.co/WzMecMv8mThttps://t.co/z7YE995O6a
