This might be controversial, but the carnivore diet is missing an essential component to your health and longevity: FIBER Fiber is associated with a lower risk of type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer’s & certain cancers. Bottom line: You need fiber.

@DavidPerlmutter Organ meats can ferment into the SCFAs that plant fiber ferments into. The main heart healthy SCFA made by plants that everyone talks about when they do research on fiber is literally named after butter. NAMED AFTER BUTTER.

@DavidPerlmutter Reduce the risk of Alzheimer's by promoting gut health.> "In conclusion, we show that kefir in natura, as well as its fractions may be promising therapeutic source against AD, modulating amyloidogenic related pathways."https://t.co/pLbIKrmoGEhttps://t.co/VcyTCVYAYi

@DavidPerlmutter If you're doing a carnivore diet, you'll get more than enough SCFAs sources to neutralize circulating TMAO. If you aren't, explore removing sources of excess nitrates and eat more collagen sources to promote healthy NO recycling thru improved gut mucus.https://t.co/ceYC50fBL7

@ultimape @DavidPerlmutter Probiotic rich foods like kefir are great as is sauerkraut, but it’s maybe not a great blanket statement, some people don’t tolerate dairy well and may invariably make gut issues worse dairy based probiotic rich foods.

@BioboostDaily @DavidPerlmutter use water kefir.Or seek out goat/sheep milk if you struggle with casein sensitivty, they hit different.Kefir cured my lactose intolerance! There's also work being done to use microbes+butyrate to reduce allergy to cow's milk.https://t.co/QyS8unZyAi

@BioboostDaily @DavidPerlmutter There's also Ghee, which if you make your own, you can get to be casein free (Some store stuff adds cream back in). Fermented Cultured Butter turned into a ghee is a great way to get a ton of health stuff besides concentrating the butyrate. https://t.co/JMVoH3Y8Ik

@BioboostDaily @DavidPerlmutter That thread talks about the fatty acids as potent HDAC inhibitors, which are partly how fiber being fermented into fatty acids helps fight cancer. https://t.co/PkRWPYsfAA

@BioboostDaily @DavidPerlmutter We can get these in us a number of ways, fiber is just one vehicle for microbse to produce the chemicals for us.Saurkraut is great, the fiber is pre-digested by the fermentation. Fermentation was the only way i could eat plants for years due to Crohn's issues.

@BioboostDaily @DavidPerlmutter The same "blanket statement" issue shows up with plant fibers. We even see examples in literature where apples screw people up because of pectin intolerance from missing microbes. https://t.co/Ebu7azUit6

Neat"Regarding SCFAs, acetate levels rapidly increased with incubation with pectin, and butyrate levels also increased after 6Â h of incubation. The results suggest that pectin fermentation increases bacterial species belonging to Clostridium cluster XIV" https://t.co/EKWq4YctKS

@BioboostDaily @DavidPerlmutter Many high fiber plants also are loaded with fructans, it's highly likely that people are missing gut bacteria that can digest that as well.https://t.co/gLBXapaib8

@BioboostDaily @DavidPerlmutter Dairy is an interesting example, if you stop eating dairy for a while, the bacteria that digest lactose can die off. Many "food elimination diets" like FODMAP probably induce intolerance by starving & killing those bacteria!https://t.co/dh0MJgrVt2

@BioboostDaily @DavidPerlmutter Not to mention antibiotic induced intolerances are common.> "Early-life exposure to antibiotics appears to be related to an increased risk of allergic symptoms of hay fever, eczema, and food allergy later in life." https://t.co/eAveqrCDlUhttps://t.co/XZVZ6oEqeB

@BioboostDaily @DavidPerlmutter I even found some bacteria that denature/degrades the Casein. You can tell it's being degraded because the whey/fat/protien in the yogurt/kefir starts separating (Casein is the emulsifier that presents this).Huge potential, understudied.https://t.co/85WAnXOTie
