@ChrisChipMonk +1; also side note, I've heard The Power of Focusing recommended over Gendlin. It's been a while since I read both, but remember agreeing at the time

Can’t feel your emotions? That in and of itself is a feeling. You might be feeling numbness or dissociation, and underneath it is often shame. Allow yourself to feel what’s happening fully for 3 minutes, without trying to get somewhere, and notice what happens.
