1. Not culture was bad but rather “no *cumulative* cultural evolution” 2. Climate not only needed to be warmer, but have *seasonality* from Earth’s tilt. 3a. Low population meant low need for tech innovation of farming. Waiting for induced innovation. 3b. But more importantly, needed a place to store good cultural ideas. Previously was just external tech like tools. But around 50k, sapiens created a more stable cultural fabric from both density and age. (Grandmothers)
