The primary hypothesis of Blaylock and Faria is that schizophrenia and autism spectrum disorders overlap and are likely caused by multiple hits of immune stimulation in the early development of the brain before or after birth. This is precisely consistent with what has been known among Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists like myself for decades. Anything that causes inflammation during pregnancy may have a myriad of catastrophic consequences in pregnancy, including the fetal brain. See the works of Dr. Roberto Romero and so many more.
