I'm not even going to bother.https://t.co/inqN7BVMNY

Irony: learning about TickTalk via YouTube Embedded in a Blog Cum Magazine linked to on https://t.co/OVz1sEU6MW in a channel about memetic design.https://t.co/JJrnYrnt6p

Streams of memetic creation. Streams of culture itself? Stolen, appropriated and harvested, ultimately to be farmed like fish.Minos used as bait to catch bigger memetic fish, spawning upstream on other platforms. Always a bigger fish? Whalefalls and memetic nitrogen cycles.

TickTack, but for dating.https://t.co/Slro7uAPAr

Status as a Service, a great summary of the nature of status games and social networks. Covers a lot of ground (h/t @Gargron@mastodon.social )https://t.co/Oh1NJniMJR https://t.co/SHWT6irYmx

"The good news is that ByteDance is not suspected of any wrongdoing or data crimes on behalf of the Xi regime, as far I can tell."https://t.co/o9njXWaRk9Well that's an upsetting idea.... What about third party data harvesting?https://t.co/oiY4d81ZSb

What is TicTok's biz model?Mass tracking users to better sell them ads you say?https://t.co/gEISPyVKNm(h/t https://t.co/CV5qLuVD9V)

YouTube & Facebook makes a bit show of sue'ing Clearview.https://t.co/aeFcdZWtuUYT's recent changes to their EULA to make it clear this is against their terms.https://t.co/j97v6GBZD9They are covering their assess.

Data harvesters going to harvest.https://t.co/CoMqiClwp4

Picasa's desktop app recognized my face in a school photo. In ~2009.https://t.co/23yJNeY2uDAmazon's Rekognition can do this on a crowd of thousands AFAICT.https://t.co/uwHlP13XUl

Nothing to see here. Move along folks.https://t.co/GOkwlUHytt

Do you ever wonder if someone would hire you to figure out how to track and trace every living person on the earth?https://t.co/86CjPrYTPF

We've got tech that can monitor images for make and model of the coffee pot in the background of your daughter's selfie. It wouldn't take much to geolocate where she lives and identify the person who bought it and sell them ads.We could do this in 2013 https://t.co/gW7XaMyzLt

~2.5 hours after last tweet.“such as identifying the objects and scenery that appear, the existence and location within an image of face and body features and attributes, the nature of the audio, and the text of the words spoken in your User Content.”https://t.co/uy4GTaaMcA

"TikTok is a hugely popular social media platform that has helped children keep in touch with their friends during an incredibly difficult year. However, behind the fun songs, dance challenges and lip-sync trends lies something far more sinister."https://t.co/pR6hucgEoa

Covering their asses."Starting today, we're changing the default privacy setting for all registered accounts ages 13-15 to private. With a private TikTok account, only someone who the user approves as a follower can view their videos."https://t.co/ePoYFf2cGT

"Not all companies have the resources, or priorities, to create those kinds of barriers against any would-be scrapers. Venmo, the payment app owned by PayPal, has repeatedly been criticized for making all transactions public by default."https://t.co/nuucIujT6d

Do you ever try to find out if you can spot who's cheating on who by correlating Venmo payments with timing data from work, school, and religious ceremonies.Imagine what a little data enrichment could do https://t.co/F7rmGGosoIhttps://t.co/RedsSJCR6y

It's amazing what you can infer with metadata.https://t.co/lrz8MNH4jj

Who needs cloud servers when you can just spin up your own on-prem?https://t.co/qFNTD0kbp3

Less than $900 for a ruggedized solar power capable (12 or 24 battery voltage) with a cellular uplink. Combine with a decent camera + $70 VPU and you can even do edge detection of faces to upload to a remote system for offline processing (supports AWS greengrass). Having fun yet?

"If done manually, he estimated, this kind of investigatory grunt work would take a couple of weeks. In this instance, it took “less than a day.”" https://t.co/r3PJCoMjnA

"growing number of established tech giants, including Cisco, Microsoft, and Motorola, sell fusion systems globally, often in the guise of “smart city” modernization packages"https://t.co/5jwULn1I0bNever read that, yet posted day after it was published:https://t.co/C2BwhbfIpA

Can someone buy me a burner phone so I can interact with the the #latediagnosedautistic community on tacktack? https://t.co/nMN0AuY7Qu

I am not even a fan of opening up this site on my browser https://t.co/3zSm8YDccp

But am not going to install anything that tries to correlate mac addresses on local LANs. This is what I would be doing if I wanted to grab social ties surreptitiously.https://t.co/Ofj08Qz6Ea

Lets play a game:Is this invasive monitoring of user behavior to be able to make predictive profiles for selling ads? or are they trying to get all this data for something else. Can we tell the difference?https://t.co/ndeTlNJk9x

Looking forward to seeing how many apps are doing that thing InAppBrowser catches.https://t.co/Khnym4Wtwn

Friends don't let friends use Tik Tok.https://t.co/VTlIq50fyl

I looked up GPS watches on google and now I'm getting ads for them everywhere. https://t.co/semNNWcdv1

The clock strikes.https://t.co/Khnym4X1lV

Yo know that thing were that geo guesser was able to figure out where an old photograph was taken based on some plants and a tree?https://t.co/BdQBjcNq8i

Someone's working on that at scale. Detecting a tree location from a photo... using AI"However, automatic positioning and inventory models of urban trees from ground-level images are still very scarce in the literature."https://t.co/jK6a1MjuO2https://t.co/02zDqNo3q3

Oh. I could theoretically use deep learning + data coming out of services like geoguessr to reverse engineer what expert humans are noticing in photos to narrow in on location.I have designs for a price guessing estimation game based on similar principles from 2010.

I think it's fun that all the newer phones don't take photographs, but short little video clips that include enough movement to get depth information and geolocate via audio.https://t.co/N2ncCLngRM

I think its neat that https://t.co/vGoMLSz6PG 's app requires you to put in your location to get it to work, and then prompts you to submit verification pictures.https://t.co/YV5p00We9s

"Birdsong is a species-typical, stereotypic set of usually long, learned, complex vocalizations produced in reproductive contexts […] [preoptic nucleus] of songbirds is a critical site for the activation of sexual motivation and singing by [testosterone]"https://t.co/IjllxQcfzh

Ya'll got any of those large scale *cough* databases that would allow for real-time detection of disease outbreaks?https://t.co/jcFzRwtsj7
