this is basically correct and is one of the main facts shaping the world today. most people, because they do not try to get big things done, have no idea. but if you travel to any rapidly developing country, you will gain perspective. things are being kept from happening

it was stupid like that in teh first place. it was a big reason why elon what trying to make hyperloop in the first place. he and i talked about it at the time. i think that the hyperloop efforts can be derided at fanciful and underperforming, but i don't buy this "it's fake" argument from people who probably have never attempted something at the level of execution that actually was done. it's clear that his heart wasn't in it like with spacex, but, look, california HSR SUCKS ass and that's not the only thing we're not building. SF takes 10 years to permit housing! we had the opportunity to connect muni to Washington Square and didn't. the dudes outside my window are taking 3 years to work on 1 mile of road. in china they can do like a mile a day. that's like 900x!
