this is going to feel really bad on the way down, but versions of this demographic story are playing out everywhere. i think we actually need a significant retooling of civilization to value and support young families. all the efforts at population control, but nobody really was counting on the hysteresis after we want to turn it off




when I say society is hostile to young people and young families, i mean nimby housing medical and education costs, i mean cutthroat competition during one's 20s and 30s if you want to get into the upper echelon, and then, in the superstar cities and superpowers, no home, no political voice for you. it's not about welfare





women have been emancipated for more than a century and we have had above replacement fertility rates. the present moment is uniquely bad for family formation, and for young people generally. liberty is not exclusive of having kids, but itβs not happening enough. and yes i donβt propose removing womenβs freedom and reproductive rights, as you and all the red pills reach for immediately. iβm talking about retooling the fabric of society so that it functions for young families again. there are many aspects of this
