black on (esp elderly) asian violence has exploded in oakland, and it makes me fucking enraged. itβs like this is my grandma here, and this young man is taking her stuff and punching her in the face if asians complaining about this is racist, where are the black voices denouncing this

going to have to mute this conversation. for reference, though there aren't so many, there have been several reasonable responses with black people denouncing this violence, and whole lot of people saying "you voted for this" or just explicit, really actually racist shit, so, you know, if future racists are trying to dunk on this, know you are already owned. AFAICT ineffectual wokeist soft on crime DAs and Mayors and politicians are screwing blacks vias black on black crime probably as hard as anybody (maybe harder), so the value to their and to the general community for advocating for criminal justice against these kind of abuses is really vital. we owe it to everyone to amplify these voices, and not let psychopathic politicians wokewash things and underserve communities.

i love intelligent black academics, and can understand most of them not being able to speak up due to many pressures, but when internal voices are drowned out, and you only have external voices pushing back against extremes, it actually breeds actual racism. and terrible behaviors. it's really locked into a bad, bad feedback loop i feel similarly about speaking out against extreme trans (...i beg of you, as your elder trans sister, can you please find a way to chill? very difficult to actually affect what's happening, esp relative to social media) or what has happened relative internal to Israel (before Oct 7th people were protesting the Netanyahu gov! now that is all suppressed). For that matter, the Democrats right now are proving, as with the reps before them, they really can't process negative information internally. It's a standard failure mode of all tribal groupthink

I am simply going to assert that positive role models do have an impact, and widespread denunciations would have an impact. for what it's worth there are several black figures who have done a great job at denouncing bad shit and being great role models, and i've linked some to the main post. they should be commended for their work and their voices amplified, and if I could rewrite my post to include them in I would -- settling for linking their replies.
