FUCKED UP how you always need the opposite of your inclination: gym rats should go to therapy and therapycels should hit the gym, I fucking love sciencers should get into woo and hippies should study logical argument, …

@nosilverv Damn I was just reflecting on how I’m mostly doing insight meditation, while I probably should be practicing livingkindness more than anything. I’m just so bad at it’s not even remotely enjoyable to do.

@JustAnkurBagchi @nosilverv surprisingly unintuitive!! best way I've convinced myself of this is: if I find myself hating something while knowing very little about it, I move towards it (even though I'm SO sure it's bad)

Our instinct always pushes us towards more of what we are comfortable with. I was a strength athlete that would spend hours in the gym until life finally broke me, now the past 8 years of my life have been spent diving into inner work and mediation. Finally starting to integrate the two worlds.

@nosilverv So given those rules and optimal strategy is to always have an open mind, change your game, understand the antithesis of your biases so well that you might even accept the good parts of them. Why the universe got to be so ironic?

@nosilverv This reflexive ”antithesis” response has been trained into Western humans ever since Postmodernism became definable. We now have an erudite basis for saying “I know you are but what am I?” about everything anyone can say.
