why does âprecise thinkingâ have more of a reputation for being externally verifiable than âprecise feelingâ? ime itâs not. not everyone has the thinking skills to verify a trained thinkerâs train of thought, same as not everyone has the feeling skills to follow a trained feeler

afaict most âexternal verificationâ of precise thinking & feeling is done by some legible downstream effect, not by verification of the process itself. since both âprecise thinkingâ and âprecise feelingâ require training. the average person canât do them to expert caliber https://t.co/xR8tE3l9Ov

imo âprecise feelingâ has just as much to contribute to human well-being as âprecise thinking.â and itâs not any less verifiable. âprecise feelingâ & âprecise thinkingâ that someone else canât follow both ultimately create outcomes that *are* legible & perceptible https://t.co/SOG6XJjhOU

as an example of what I mean by âverifying precise feelingâ - every session from @DrMylesDC their hands wind up in some specific place on my ribcage or head or leg or wherever that obviously feel charged and pinched or active but I had not been paying attention to beforehand

@DrMylesDC the process by which they find those spots, where stuff is going on in my body? that process takes a lot more training than simply me noticing âoh, now that youâre pointing it out to me I totally do feel stuff going on there, that isnât going on two inches to the rightâ

@relic_radiation @DrMylesDC The architectural and design process of Christopher Alexander is rooted in cultivating sensitivity to precise feeling in the body and using this as a means of tuning to the sensory experience of the arrangement of matter

@relic_radiation @DrMylesDC He spent many years at Berkeley empirically testing this by trying to rigorously train students to feel the subtle changes in feeling that occur when you move physical elements around, and to feel the âwholenessâ of a space in general, which you detect with the body

@DrMylesDC I do this too. I had a client 2weeks ago who had a specific body tension pattern thatâd freeze him somatically when it was active I found it within the first three minutes (extended from his right front ribcage down into his hip) and he was surprised. &Iâm like âthis is my jobâ

@relic_radiation @DrMylesDC ime its easier to feel into the body because there's always this energetic signal broadcast without the need to touch. also easy to verify. thinking has more of a rep post enlightenment. it has dominated the cultural landscape. feels are only just starting to catch up

@relic_radiation Precise feeling is the foundation of Christopher Alexanderâs architectural design approach Iâve been studying, using the sensory experience of the arrangement of matter to inform changes to the built environment that reliably produce those feelings in others
