with all that’s in the news i have been feeling doomery abt human nature - intrusive thoughts in public places like, “in diff circumstances these normal people could be trying to kill each other” There is smth abt working with kids that is incredibly healing for this

today, [karim] came to school so sad. his lip quivered. he missed his mom. at morning meeting, we sang (to the tune of bingo), “there was a class that had a friend and karim was his name-o, CLAP CLAP karim, CLAP CLAP karim, we’re glad you’re here today!” & he cracked a smile!

augh man. We went around and sang the song for each kid. And there was something about hearing “we’re glad you’re here today!” that brought me to tears when was the last time I was that warm and loving to mySELF? the gentleness, the kindness, cracks me open

it is worth singing that to myself every morning. “there was a friend he’s out of bed and parth is his name-o, CLAP CLAP parth, CLAP CLAP parth, CLAP CLAP parth, im glad you’re here today!”

the music we sing to the kids brings me to tears all the time. I came back from lunch once and music class was happening! the music teacher had a beautiful voice and strummed an acoustic guitar

we treat children so tenderly. When did I forget to treat myself with that tenderness?
