this tweet is basically accurate to what it's like in the extended bay area social network i found myself down to the diagnosing people in random google docs, the degree of "open-minded community house members" having some of the most fucked up social dynamics ive ever seen https://t.co/u25PiIXSWy

even my friends today are one degree away from houses that are still this fucked up. the most confusing part is how normal it is. how common it is to frequent houses where the degree of shadow of one guy looms over everybody in the house. everyone silently dedicated to managing

but you know, he's a superconnector, and he knows everybody, and it's still nice to visit, because the events he puts on are great, and this is just the fucked up bay area extended social network. i imagine other rich and powerful circles have much worse versions of this

it took an embarrassingly long time for me to realise this isn't all of the bay area, just like the worst of wall street culture isn't all of manhattan. normal people live there but from within the centre of those things, they feels like epicentre; the beating cultural heart

there's so much scarcity from within these circles, and they attract people who carry such a sense of scarcity, that it all doubles up, and convinces them there is nothing possible except get deeper at the heart of whatever this dynamic is going on here wall street guys who become convinced the only way to win/not lose is to go deeper, despite their doubts, into the cocaine-ridden, aggressive, shady world
