You can activate P300 with alcohol hitting the TRPA1 receptors on skin. I don't think this study is doing what the authors expect & they state within that there are a ton of assumptions.TRPA1 is dense on the forehead - are they triggering facial Cold shock response unknowingly? https://t.co/YwxjSyIXYy

That the bacteria go away when you use alcohol on the skin would be an unrelated aspect. If what they are really doing is using 75% alcohol to induce cold intolerance via TRPA1 changing TRPV1 and TRPM8 expression?https://t.co/rqkyBY0P6E

Cold induced pain driving P300 alertness is much more likely from what I can gauge from the study design.

The immune system detecting a sudden ingress and barrier breech via alcohol could drive an alertness that would last for a lot longer afterward as well. This doesn't mean it's bacterial. But could mean it's a healthy response to signal of yeast invading?https://t.co/uv8VwQUsXw

In effect, you may be seeing blood flow changes in the brain that reflect alcohol shifting the TRP receptor state in a vital area. A cold shock response would cause the body to suddenly warm up. Bam, cognitive recovery. No bacterial SCFAs required.https://t.co/2Lg4IMM21b

Do I think that SCFAs on the skin matter in terms of calming the body? Absolutely. Helping create a healthy dermal barrier that isn't constantly inflamed means less immune response related problems.TRPA1 is likely involved in all sorts of skin problems.https://t.co/PqARlWDUft

But dumping 75% ABV alcohol on the forehead as a cleaning agent and ignoring how TRPA1 response from alcohol works? Seems silly.Did you know the TRPA1 receptor responds to alcohols in a carbon chain length dependent manner? its fascinating.https://t.co/VWgvD9uz3M

TRPA1 activation via bacterial biofilms & various alcohol related chemistry *IS* involved in how the body responds to SCFAs, but concluding it from that study is a bit of a stretch.Understanding TRPA1 would be key to interpreting this space properly. https://t.co/UxdLcYlBcC

Once you start to understand how the body's TRP receptors act as a quorum, a lot of the larger scale changes in brainwaves tied to relaxation and calmness start to make more sense. Like sauna acting to calm the body thru shifting TRP expression.https://t.co/k2yOOrTd1T

P300 and alchol are interesting. The relationship between it's levels and alcohol tolerance seem to correlate https://t.co/CHCebJStt6

To the point where they can use P300 to measure Alcohol Use Disorder https://t.co/PuW4W0xgTk

Waiting 5 minutes to avoid olfaction related changes in p300 seems like a naive way of handling how the body actually handles alcohol. Study is dumb even before we consider potential TRP receptor responses from a chemically induced cold shock response.

The sad thing is... we do need more studies exploring the role of skin health and function in relationship to cognitive health. Understanding how the skin responds to irritants and ways to mitigate them could be transformative. https://t.co/KnIAW8O2dD

Alzheimer's => Dry Skin"The idea of using a simple treatment like a skin emollient as one way to reduce age-associated inflammation is both intriguing and appealing, and worth further evaluation"https://t.co/VqVccnVYaW

P300 was why I wanted to build an EEG!"People with multiple sclerosis have altered P300 which indicates the presence of cognitive dysfunction in these patients." https://t.co/s6Q8c1PS3uHuge potential if we can address over/under activation via TRPA1.https://t.co/IgBTKAIIyo

"We also found significant patient deficits in P300 amplitude. These were evident across all emotional valences, but were especially notable for the negative emotions."https://t.co/Ix36dr336VThe world is full of scary faces that I do not understand.

I've been obsessed w/ TRPA1 the past month. I think the reason why I could feel the burning in my bladder from a UTI was an expression change. It's weird how Alzheimer's people with chronic UTIs don't feel that pain. They have weird TRPA1 response too...

TL;DR: making your body enter a pain state enhances mental arousal and stress induced thinking improvement is a thing that can be measured via P300. https://t.co/cQnfKlY4sIAKA firewater burns.
