when i first came to america for boarding school, i was so confused why so many people here were depressed and suicidal. especially since they were upper middle class liberal kids. they had none of the money or gender restrictions of where i came from

over time, i came to understand. souls will commit suicide if they can't feel themselves. and some environments systematically raise kids who couldn't feel their soul their economic output was good, and their knowledge was impressive, but they were dying at the soul

it made sense, that a society that didn’t know or talk about a soul except to describe something as soulless wouldn’t know when souls were dying or what to do about it so they gave them pills

i realised my confusion was i had adopted the modern way of thinking: that happiness is additive. that it comes from eternal circumstances. one hamburger + one hamburger = twice the happiness they had more hamburgers. so why were they dying?

but if i could have seen or spoken in the language of the spirit world, i would see dying roots. a missing nutrient making the crops fail, as year after year they add more fertiliser, more pills, never giving up sicknesses of the spirit are so clear at the spirit level

as i walk around today, i’m more open to having a background visual in my head of what i see in people it doesn’t mean their "auric field" is "literally purple". it means my brain has chosen to convey valuable information to me in a language i understand: shapes and colours

where i came from wasn’t better. we had scarcity too. life wasn't better, just different. but the problems we had were perhaps a bit more obvious and solutions more obvious, so the remaining will to live of these beings was directed towards those problems no matter how unfair

but what happens when you live a life you don’t wish to live? where every action grates the soul, isn’t aligned with what you want, takes you further away adding more gas just adds gas to a direction you don’t want. maybe that’s soul choose to choke the fuel instead

the car slows to a stop. and perhaps in that depression, someone, something will take note https://t.co/ftyXiGRMXd

i'd say *depression is more about withdrawing and conserving energy from hopeless situations, and letting your inner voice speak to just how important this thing was, and let you know how important it is we don't move on without hearing out the soul https://t.co/Phbszk7nuY

indeed, someone and something seems to be taking note. after many, many lost children, we seem to have invented the concept of "mental health" to explain spiritual malaise. it’s not quite right, but in a culture that knows about the mind and not the spirit, it was the next step

@AskYatharth Oo have you heard of, or read the book “the price of privilege”? It engages with exactly this theme. how many kids “raised with everything” are still totally depressed, because the cultural concept of “everything” is totally miscalibrated from actual soul and well-being needs
