in warm, people-centric cultures, conversations about people are about people. (some) bay area people think conversations about people are about anything other than people — they treat each conversation like it's some symbol of a conversation to then analyse

people aren't really real to them, only the symbols of them are. so naturally, instead of focusing on people, they focus on the symbols and numbers of suffering they might tend to
