my mythosomatics teacher says that in India, there's a cultural understanding of phenomena like "this person heard a sound - and that sound moved them so much, that they followed it for the rest of their life" I suppose something similar happened to me with bodywork

there's one particular touch I felt, that moved me so much, that I'm still happily following it. a houseguest ~5 years ago noticed I was feeling gloomy, invited me to cuddle, and put her hand on my heart in a way that shockingly broke open some dam of love and peace inside me

since then, I've experienced a lot more supportive and high-resolution touch. yay! but even now - after that I've learned to embody so much of that tactile presence myself - I remember that houseguest with a lot of fondness. https://t.co/XAerrxLr3L

@relic_radiation > a cultural understanding of phenomenaCan you say more about this? What do you mean by it, what kind of thing were they pointing at as being part of the culture?

ah, the phenomena I’m referring to is “someone experiences something “small,” but it raises such devotion in them that they follow that devotion rapturously for the rest of their life” one sound - leading them to sing and sing and sing, one vision - leading them to paint and paint and paint, or in my case so far one touch as contrasted to US culture which is more “so let’s make your career plan, what effect do you want to have on the world” rather than “what filled you with so much love that you tend the flame and carry it forward”
