From a long conversation I had with someone who has legally administered psychedelics to 600+ people and who is one of the most self-aware persons I have ever met: Psychedelics don't treat narcissism. This seems very important to know about. Don't put your hope there.

The typical reaction to psychedelics by a narcissist is to resist their ego dissolving effects, and if ego death does happen, to attribute it to the ego when it's back online. It leads to God-mind type pheomenology. Often to wild claims like having achieved 4th path or Buddhahood just from tripping.

From a different source: MDMA might help a bit increase self-awwreness but they need really optimal conditions. Without a therapeutic process they will just take the MDMA feelings and attach them to their own sense of self. It needs the desire to get better. Worse: they may figure out how to use MDMA for their own selfish goals. This is dangerous.

I think this is one of the things that went wrong in the 60s. No, giving megadoses to narcissistic politicians or CEOs won't turn them around. We need to be less naïve.
