i feel so behind day 1 in my art class (skull drawing), it kind of threw me off. im so clearly the worst student in the class im sitting there, questioning my right to be in the class, almost in tears, not having a good time

i remembered i used to take art, music, history, english classes in high school and get a C- on the first assignment… and then it would improve, and be a B, and then an A, and eventually i’d be one of the best students

i didn’t use to mind that. i love being the dumbest person in the room. it meant i was in the right room. it meant i was about to learn *a lot*

wild how much identity plays a role in this stuff. just the identity shift from"worst student, don’t let them see" to "hahahahahahahah i am going to learn so much here, if i become the average of the 5 students around me, that would be so awesome"
